Free University Project Bookstore
Updated Apr. 12, 2002

As a convenience to those who do not have ready access to textbooks, study preparation (sample exam) books, suggested readings, reference books and course-related videos and CD-ROMs we have opened this bookstore in association with Barnes and Noble. (The Free University Project receives a small commission from sales that originate here that help cover the costs of maintaining the site. However, you receive the full discount just as if you ordered directly from the company.)

If it would be useful to you, we will also carry used books or offer you the opportunity to sell your books through the Bookstore - please let us know.

We could also offer a video exchange service for course-related videos if there is demand for it.

Please let us know if these, or other services, would be of value to you.

How to use the Bookstore

When you are looking for a specific book, and you believe it was published prior to 1925, and is thus probably in the public domain - check first with the following collection of free e-texts on the Web:

Literary Resources on the Net from Jack Lynch, Rutgers. From classical to modern with an emphasis on the 18th Century. Well organized; substantial links.

Electronic Texts and Interactive Platforms in American Literature Georgetown University. A small, but useful, selection.

An American Literature Survey Site A collaborative effort of a professor and his students. Texts plus analysis.

The Internet Classics Archive MIT. Contains over 400 works of classical literature - primarily Greek and Roman, in English translation.

CARRIE a Full-text Electronic Library University of Kansas. This link is to books in English. You may find some broken links, but the site manager is fighting an uphill battle, so don't be discouraged.

Bartleby.com Great Books Online You should be familiar with all these authors if you are a lit major. Also contains important poetry texts and the Columbia Encyclopedia.

eserver.org Massive site from Carnegie Mellon offers over 27,000 works on line. Well organized in 40 subject categories

electronic text center University of Virginia Library online archive of thousands of electronic texts and images.

Alex Catalogue of Electronic Texts U.C. Berkeley. A collection of digital documents in the subject areas of English literature, American literature, and Western philosophy.

Bjorn's Guide to Philosophy Life and works of 27 leading social, political and religious philosophers. Not currently updated, so may have broken links.

The Etext Archives Eclectic collection of e-zines and other writings and poetry, much of it contemporary.
